Set some 40-and-change years before the events of Battlestar Galactica, BSG: Deadlock examines the early days of the Colonial fleet as the fledging military attempts to deal with the seemingly impossible Cylon threat!

Weak Point: although heavily armoured at the front and side, the Manticore corvettes have a central weakpoint where the armoured forward section transitions to the rear, engineering section. Missiles or gunfire hitting that junction can cause devastating damage to an otherwise sturdy ship!
Fleet Action: A civilian liner hunkers underneath the arms of the Daedalus shipyards for cover. Sometimes Colonial Fleet's duties involve escorting and rescuing civilian craft!
Fleet Action: The Perses leads the charge against the Cylons as a line of enemy Talon-class escort carries advance towards the Colonial Fleet
Fleet Action: Close formation manoeuvring requires very careful helmsmen and navigators - one wrong move could prove costly for hundreds!
Fleet Action: Even in the absence of Battlestars, Manticore corvettes, Adamant frigates and Ranger cruisers can for a fleet that packs a punch. Manoeuvrable with solid fighter and missile cover, these multipurpose fleets can get the job done!
Destruction in the dark: A Talon-class escort carrier carries a lot of fuel and ammo for its fighter squadrons - when it all goes up in flames, it goes up spectacularly!

The Nemesis: Nemesis corvettes are highly manoeuvrable but ultimately can't stand up to much gunfire. Missiles tear through its armour and hull with ease, and even a solid gun attack can be devastating.
The Nemesis: Able to hack Colonial defences and able to launch a wide variety of missiles and torpedoes, a group of Nemesis corvettes can pose a serious threat to all but the most well defended of Colonial Fleet battlegroups!
The Nemesis: If missiles and tricks fail, the Nemesis doesn't have too much to fall back on, with only a single cannon turret towards the front of the ship.
The Nemesis: A Viper squadron descends on a Cylon Nemesis-class corvette. Lacking point defence and only boasting one forward facing cannon, these Cylon ships make for easy pickings while alone - but they hide a deadly punch.
Small but mighty: Thanks to the Daedalus' repair teams, the Tartarus is patched up and given fresh paint before the next engagement!
Small but mighty: The Tartarus and Perses turn broadside to a Cylon corvette in the distance, firing off their missiles from the Manticore's lateral missile tubes.
Small but mighty: despite significant damage to its front and rear sections, the Perses is still in the fight, firing off its main gun at the Cylons!
Small but mighty: Despite their small size and limited firepower, the Manticore corvettes can put with with a sizeable amount of punishment! Lacking any kind of point defence but still being the first in line to take on enemy fire, the ships of the Manticore class are outfitted with extensive frontal and dorsal armour plating.
The Combat Air Patrol: Despite the missile hits, the armour plating holds and the Lancer is able to maintain formation with the rest of the fleet.
The Combat Air Patrol: With the CAP tied up engaging Cylon raiders, there's nothing left to intercept incoming Cylon missiles. Despite attempting to manoeuvre away, the Lancer receives multiple blows to its engines.
The Combat Air Patrol: as the Vipers of the CAP defend the lead ships of the fleet, Cylon raiders make their attacking move!
The Combat Air Patrol: The CAP closes in on the Perses, Tartarus and Lancer. As fast corvettes with a good sensor package, the Manticore corvettes often lead the charge when encountering unknown DRADIS contacts and are usually the first to encounter - and be targeted by - the enemy.
The Colonial Fleet moves into position: The damaged Crius presses on, despite significant damage to its mid-section.

The Colonial Fleet moves into position: Despite lacking a Battlestar, Battlegroup Styx still packs a punch, with its combination of escort carriers, frigates and corvettes able to intercept, outmanoeuvre, and ultimately outgun its Cylon opponents!
Launch the fighters: In turn, Cylon Raiders make towards the Daedalus shipyards, eager to prevent the Battlestar Athena from surviving and being delivered to Picon's defence fleet!

Engaging the Cylons: With no more armour to protect it and more missiles still inbound, the Cylon Nemesis corvette suffers a catastrophic explosion.
Engaging the Cylons: The Perses' missiles have no problem catching up to the back of damaged Cylon corvette to inflict more blows.
Engaging the Cylons: A damaged Cylon ship attempts to disengage from the fight. Knowing they can repair and return, the Perses of the Colonial Fleet closes in and engages with missiles, destroying the ship before it can escape!
